Voglio cogliere al volo il suggerimento di Iago e postare una canzone ed il suo testo che, secondo me, è uno dei più belli mai scritti nella storia della musica rock, anzi progressive rock.
Ecco a voi EPITAPH.

EPITAPH (King Crimson) (da In the Court of the Crimson King, Island Records, 1969)

The wall on which the prophets wrote

Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

EPITAFFIO

Il muro su cui scrissero i profeti
Si sta sgretolando nelle fondamenta
Al di sopra degli strumenti della morte
La luce del sole splende raggiante
Quando ogni uomo è fatto a pezzi
Dagli incubi e dai sogni
Vorrà qualcuno deporre la corona d’alloro
Quando il silenzio sommergerà le grida

La confusione sarà il mio epitaffio
Mentre striscio lungo un sentiero abbandonato
Se ce la facciamo possiamo sederci tutti
E ridere
Ma ho paura che domani piangerò
Sì ho paura che domani piangerò

Tra i cancelli di ferro del destino
Furono seminati i semi del tempo
Ed innaffiati dalle azioni di coloro
Che conoscono e che sono conosciuti
La conoscenza è un’amica mortale
Quando nessuno fissa le regole
Il fato del genere umano
È nelle mani degli stupidi

La confusione sarà il mio epitaffio
Mentre striscio lungo un sentiero abbandonato
Se ce la facciamo possiamo sederci tutti
E ridere
Ma ho paura che domani piangerò
Sì ho paura che domani piangerò

  1. Spare my bones the fire,
    let me lie entire,
    underground or in the air,
    whichever, I don't care.

  2. Bellissima, Ipaz! Grande musica, grande testo.
Visto che l' argomento ti ha subito ispirato, ancora il Belli:

    La morte co la coda

Qua nun ze n' esce: o ssemo giacubbini,

E doppo? doppo viengheno li guai.
Doppo c'è l'antra vita, un antro monno,
che dura sempre e nun finisce mai!

E'un penziere quer mai, che tte squinterna!
    Eppuro, o bene o male, o a galla o affonno,
    sta cana eternità dev'èsse eterna!
